Training of doctors at BSMU

Training of doctors at BSMU is realized at the stage of undergraduate training and post-graduate one during the internship year acquiring stepped education according to the orientation “Medicine” has its specific characteristics.

At the stage of undergraduate training the education is realized in compliance with educational – professional programmes of general  medical training of a specialist of the educational-qualifying level of “ a specialist” according to basic specialities: “general medicine”, “pediatry”, “stomatology”, “medical psychology”. Upon mastering the educational-professional programme of general medical training a specialist is given the qualification of  ” a doctor” and the right of performing professional work as an internship-doctor. After completing the studies at the medical  and stomatological faculties every graduate, except the diploma of s specialist and a supplement to the diploma of a state standard, gets a supplement to the diploma of  a European standard, which is developed by the European Commission, European Council UNESCO/CEPEC.

The diploma supplement  of  the  European standard is introduced into practice to meet obligations by Ukraine as a state-member of the Bologna process.

The purpose of the supplement is to give sufficient objective information as to the qualification  (of the diploma, certificate, etc) of obtained higher education for the academic and professional acknowledgement in Europe.

At the  post-graduate stage (during the internship year) education is realized according to the educational –professional programmes of a specialist training with primary specialization in conformity with the obtained basic speciality.

Following the training at the internship a specialist is awarded the qualification of a doctor in a definite speciality and he (she)  is able to perform the professional work of a doctor giving him (her) the right to occupy an primary doctor’s position.

Training of Pharmaceutists and Clinical Pharmacists at BSMU

 

Training of pharmaceutists and clinical pharmacists at BSMU is realized at the stage of undergraduate training and at the internship.

At the undergraduate stage education is realized according to the educational-professional programmes of the general specialist training of a specialist in compliance with educational-qualifying level of a “specialist” in conformity with the basic specialities “Pharmacy” and “Clinical Pharmacy”.

Upon mastering the educational –professional programme of general  training a specialist is awarded the  qualification – a “pharmacist”  and a  “clinical pharmacist”  and he (she) is given a right to perform the professional work of internship pharmacist. A specialist receives a document of the established standard: a diploma, which is indicative of the obtaining higher pharmaceutical education and awarding the qualification of a pharmaceutist or clinical pharmacist.

At the post-graduate stage (at the internship) education is realized according to educational-professional programmes of a specialist’s training in compliance with primary specialization in conformity with the obtained basic speciality.

After training at the internship a specialist is awarded the qualification of a pharmaceutist in a certain speciality and given the certificate of completing  post graduate education at the internship that gives him (her) the right to occupy a primary position according to an approved list.

Graduates in the speciality “Pharmacy” (a specialist) may hold such positions:

    1. Pharmaceutist
    2. Pharmaceutist-toxicologist
    3. Pharmacist- analyst
    4. Manager of a chemist’s
    5. Manager of a chemist’s storehouse
    6. Chief of a section
    7. Chief of a laboratory
    8. Chemist-analyst
    9. Scientific associate
    10. Medical agent (representative) of pharmaceutical enterprises

Provision of employment places for graduates in speciality “Pharmacy” (a specialist) are: chemist’s shops, chemist’s storehouses, pharmaceutical production plants, pharmaceutical wholesale firms, customs service, research institutions, control-analytic, scientific laboratories, forensic medical expert laboratories.

Graduates in the speciality “Clinical Pharmacy” (a specialist) may hold such positions:

    1. Clinical pharmacist
    2. Pharmacist
    3. Manager of a chemist’s shop
    4. Manager of a chemist’s storehouse
    5. Chief of a section
    6. Scientific associate
    7. Medical agent of pharmaceutical enterprises

Provision of employment places for the graduates in speciality “Pharmacy” (a specialist) are:

Patient care and prevention institutions, chemist’s shops, chemist’s storehouses, pharmaceutical wholesale firms, agencies of pharmaceutical production companies, research institutions, organizations of carrying-out clinical investigations.

The Academic Council of the University is a collective body of the University. The Academic Council of the University is headed by its Rector, Prof. T.M Boychuk, the Secretary of the Academic Council of the University is the Academic Secretary I.I. Pavlunyk.

The composition of the Academic Council is formed by the members of the University administration, vice-rectors, deans, chief accountant, chief of the pedagogical department, library director and representatives of the student government of the University, elected representatives, who are elected from among the heads of departments, professors and doctors. The complete membership of the Academic Council is approved by the Rector’s order. As of 30.08.2012, the

Academic Council numbers 87 people.

The duties of the Academic Council are:

• discussion of the most important issues in the University activities and making decisions on these issues;
• processing, consideration and submission to the rector’s approval projects of regulations for all types of statutory activity, projects for the creation, organization or liquidation of major structural administrative subdivisions and departments;
• submission to the Conference of the staff, as the top public self-governing collegiate body of the University a Statute project as well as changes and amendments to it;
• approval of the financial plan and the report of the University;
• suggestions to the rector as to the appointment and dismissal of pro-rectors, chief accountant and director of the library;
• elections of the heads of the Departments and professors for the post by means of a secret ballot;
• approval of syllabi and curricula;
• approval of decisions on the teaching-educative procedure;
• approval of the basic trends of scientific research;
• evaluation of the scientific-pedagogical activity of the structural subsections;
• making decisions regarding the candidates for the conferment of the academic status of Associate Professor, Professor;
• suggestion or presentation of research projects for national and international awards;
• recommendations regarding the publication of monographs, textbooks, teaching aids  etc.;
• making recommendations regarding the participation in contests for the award of state and nominal scholarships, nomination of the authors of textbooks and teaching aids for awards;
• considerations of subjects of dissertations for the degree of Candidate and Doctor of sciences;
establishing the validity of reasons, duration and number of breaks during the postgraduate / doctoral study;
recommendations on providing sabbaticals in order to complete the dissertation and to write books;
reviewing and submitting proposals to the Rector as to the composition and duties of the advisory bodies of the University;
preparations of proposals on changes in the structure of the University and its departments;
analysis of the effectiveness of the work performed at the expense of the state budget;
discussion of the issues of educational work and student self-government.

The Academic Council considers other issues of the University activities in accordance with its Statute.

The Academic Council meetings are held once a month, chaired by the rector of the University, and in his absence – by the vice-rector who performs his duties.

The decisions of the Academic Council are advisory and come into effect by the Rector’s order.
