TRANSFER TO BSMU FROM ANOTHER UKRAINIAN UNIVERSITY: STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE

On September 01, 2011, Medical Faculty No3 was opened at Bukovinian State Medical University, training foreign students on specialties “General Medicine” and “Pediatrics”, since 2016 – Master degree (Medicine).

The faculty is founded by the Rector’s Order No07-O, dated August 11, 2011, with the aim to improve educational process at the University according to the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education”, the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, dated September 05, 1996, No1074 “On Regulations Concerning State Higher Educational Establishments”, on the basis of the Licence AГ No 508297 issued by the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sport of Ukraine on April 08, 2011, the Order of the University Scientific Council, dated June 22, 2011 (minutes No10), and the Permission of the Ministry of Public Health of Ukraine (the Letter of the Ministry dated July 18, 2011, No 08.01 – 47/1176).

Since September 01, 2011, Professor I.G. Savka has been appointed the Dean of the Medical Faculty No3, Associate Professor O.V. Rotar and Grytsiuk Maryana Ivanivna – Deputy Dean of the Faculty. Since 2016/2017 educational year assistant Petryshen Olexandr Ivanovych (1-2 year study); assistant Doholich Olexandra Igorivna (3-4 year study); Garas Mykola Nesterovych (5-6 year study) have been appointed the Deputy Dean of the Faculty.

Training of foreign citizens at our University dates back to 1996, when by the Permission of the Ministry of Public Health of Ukraine, the Order of the Rector of the Institute at that time No19, dated July 17, 1996, due to the increase of the students contingent, introduction of a contract form of education and studies of foreign citizens, the Institute Medical Faculty (specialty “General Medicine”) was reorganized into Medical Faculty No1 (Dean – Professor V.I. Proniayev) and Medical Faculty No2 (Dean – Associate Professor V.G. Glubochenko).

Representatives of many countries study at the Faculty now. By the data of January 01, 2019, there are 1536 foreign students. Their geographical representation is diverse: European countries, American Continent, Oriental countries, Asia, Africa (about 30 countries all together). The citizens from India constitute the biggest community (more than 80%).

Since 2004 English has been chosen as the language of instruction.

The whole staff of the Medical Faculty No3 together with the Departments of the University are constantly working on the improvement of educational process and training specialists according to the requirements of the current legislation of Ukraine considering the peculiarities of future doctors in their own countries.

Throughout the period of the faculty functioning, foreign students demonstrate stably high knowledge according to the information of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Testing Center, based on the results of the Ministerial License exams “KROK 1 and KROK 2 Medicine”.

All mentioned above allows the university to be in the top three higher educational institutions of Ukraine.

The vast majorities of foreign alumni after returning to their motherland successfully pass qualifying examinations for the confirmation of diplomas and are able to start medical practice in their countries immediately.

The Faculty Scientific Council including representatives of six University Departments with the Dean at the head is envisaged to solve the main questions in the work of the Faculty. According to the University Regulations teachers and tutors constitute no less than 75% of the Faculty Scientific Council, and no less than 10% – the students of the Faculty No3.

The university library with large reading rooms and affiliates in the hostels, which has more than 11,000 volumes of methodological and educational literature in English and is updated annually with new editions of reputable world publishing houses, is at the disposal of foreign students.

Foreign students live in the University hostels No2, 4, 5, 6, 7 with all modern conveniences and are provided with housing throughout the entire period of study.

They take an active part in social and cultural life of the University. Their national holidays, traditions and cultural festivals make the cultural life of Bukovina brighter and richer!
