Day of the Republic of India

Day of the Republic of India

Every year the Day of the Republic of India is celebrated on January 26. This year the 72nd anniversary is celebrated since the Constitution of India was adopted and the country got the status of the Republic.

The Constitution of India was enacted on November 26, 1949, but it entered into force on January 25, 1950, and is acting till nowadays. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was a wise constitutional expert, he had studied the constitutions of about 60 countries. Ambedkar is recognised as the «Father of the Constitution of India». The Constitution of India is a unique document in the world legislation practice, since it is the biggest one. It should be noted that India is a friendly and peace-loving nation. It has never burst into the territory of any country.

On behalf of the University Administration, Dean’s offices of the Medical Faculties, all the University teaching staff and BSMU students, let me congratulate students-citizens of India on the 72nd anniversary of the Republic of India. We are proud to have the largest community of Indian citizens not only among other student communities of our University, but one of the largest among other educational establishments in the whole country as well! We wish all of you health, success in life, unforgettable positive impressions of the University studies, and your country – further prosperity and progress, peace and harmony in the society.

Happy Republic Day!

Yours respectfully

Taras Boychuk, Rector
